PhilPapaya Forest Regreening Program

A. The Situation:

The town of  Papaya, situated  in  southeast Nueva Ecija; bordered by the Municipalities  of Peñaranda and Sta. Rosa and the cities of Gapan and Palayan; adjacent to far southeast Municipalities San Miguel and Doña Remedios Trinidad in the Province of Bulacan is  vast area of rugged land and plains lying at the foot of the splendid  Sierra Madre Mountain Range.

For over a hundred years our green forest have provided so much to our way of life. Over the same period, the same forest are either dead or drying. The destruction have eliminated almost all of the greens. What were left were the browns, the blues, the blacks and in some cases the violets. All colors of decay and desolation, over the lands about to get barren.
